Architects Choose METROBRICK®
METROBRICK Architectural Thin Brick is a true kiln-fired thin brick made to stringent guidelines for use in all types of brick veneer applications and construction types.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT THIN BRICK FOR COMMERCIAL PROJECTS
All thin bricks are not the same. Thin brick products can vary significantly in many ways, including the manufacturing process, testing, usage requirements, installation and materials. The following are some features to look for when choosing a thin brick for your next commercial project. METROBRICK meets these requirements.
KILN FIRING
Choose a thin brick that is kiln-fired. Faux thin bricks are available that are made from concrete and other porous material.
MADE THIN
Ask for a thin brick that is manufactured thin. Cutting the face off a full brick and calling it thin is not an efficient or environmentally friendly way to make thin brick.
EXTRUSION
Make sure the brick you choose is extruded – not pressed. Extrusion creates a very durable low absorption brick.
MANUFACTURER
Choose a manufacturer with experience making commercial thin brick – one with a track record producing thin brick for all types of wall systems.
OUTDOOR USE
Make sure the thin brick you choose is rated for outdoor use in all climates. Choose a brick that is low absorption – your first defense against moisture intrusion.
SIZING
For cast in concrete applications that use a form liner, make sure you use a TBX grade thin brick with tight size tolerances for a snug fit into the liner.
PCI STANDARD
For use in precast construction, the thin bricks you choose must meet the PCI Standard, ensuring the thin brick used will perform as expected as part of the precast wall system.
COLORS & BLENDS
Choose a thin brick product offered in a nice selection of colors and blends. One that stocks their most popular colors and blends and allows custom blending.
ENVIRONMENTAL ATTRIBUTES
Use a thin brick from a manufacturer with a solid environmental message – third-party certification, HPD, EPD and inclusion in a leading green database.
